We regularly see learners transform their confidence, skills and career prospects through our specialist Level 3 training programmes.
One recent learner is Kara from Southend-on-Sea, who completed our Level 3 Principles of Special Educational Needs (SEN) course and demonstrated exactly how the right training can help aspiring education professionals take their first steps into the sector.
Building knowledge & confidence for a career in Education
Before enrolling on the course, Kara was unemployed with GCSE-level qualifications.
Although they'd always wanted to work with children, they lacked the confidence and industry knowledge needed to pursue opportunities within schools.
Through our Level 3 Principles of Special Educational Needs course, she gained a comprehensive understanding of the challenges and support needs faced by children with a wide range of educational needs and disabilities.
Reflecting on her learning experience, Kara said:
The course covered key topics including neurodiversity, dyslexia, visual and hearing impairments, safeguarding and British Values, subjects that are fundamental for anyone seeking to support children effectively within today's educational environments.
A key part of Kara's success on the course was down to the support she received from her tutor, Elizabeth.
Kara described the learning experience as structured, engaging and accessible, highlighting how valuable ongoing tutor guidance was throughout the programme.
For employers, this demonstrates the importance of quality training and support in developing candidates who are committed to learning and professional development.
Kara revealed she enjoyed the course so much, that she's already progressed onto a Level 3 Diploma in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools.
This commitment to ongoing development highlights a key quality many schools and education providers value: a willingness to continually learn and improve.
Kara said:
While Kara has not yet secured paid employment, she's already taken proactive steps to gain practical experience by beginning a volunteering placement at a local primary school.
This demonstrates initiative, commitment and a genuine passion for supporting children. All of which are qualities that employers consistently seek when recruiting entry-level Teaching Assistants, Learning Support Assistants and SEN Support Workers.
Candidates who complete specialist SEN training bring valuable knowledge of:
Combined with practical experience through volunteering or placements, these learners can become highly effective members of school support teams.
Our Level 3 Principles of Special Educational Needs course helps learners develop the knowledge, confidence and understanding required to begin a career supporting children and young people.
This learner's journey shows that with the right training, support and determination, individuals can successfully prepare themselves for rewarding roles within education and take meaningful steps towards long-term employment.
We wish Kara every success as they continue their studies and begin their volunteering placement, and we look forward to seeing where their education career journey takes them next.
